First Baptist Church is a community of faith that encourages the discovery of God and his way of life, embraces exploration of a life of faith, and looks for opportunities to serve God by serving others. Located on the western edge of historic, downtown Elizabeth City, First Baptist Church has served its community in ministry for over 230 years!
The Sanctuary in which we worship today was built in 1889. We are a church that embraces its heritage and looks forward to what God
is doing and will do in and through us in the future. We believe that a church that "discovers, explores, and serves together"
provides meaningful experiences for faith for its members and attenders, as well as its community.
AFFILIATIONS
While remaining an autonomous Baptist congregation, First Baptist Church is partnered with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship for missions around the nation and world and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina to better serve our state.
MEMBERSHIP
Anyone is welcome to attend and fellowship at First Baptist Church. To be a member of FBC, you must be a baptized follower of Jesus Christ. We accept membership by transferring from another church, a statement of faith, or through baptism at First Baptist. If you'd like to know more about baptism or membership, contact us.
