DONALD WALTZ
Pastor
Donald, Bethany, Ruby, and Barrett Waltz joined First Baptist Church in November of 2022. Donald, or as some call "DJ," took the call to be First Baptist Church's Pastor. Donald answered the call to ministry as a teenager but continued to wrestle with the calling of being a minister. As Donald grew up and grew spiritually, he was able to see clearly the calling God had given him. Donald's approach to ministry, preaching, and teaching is to meet people where they are and to love them for who they are. Pastor Donald believes that God calls doubters, prodigals, and ordinary people to change the world for Christ.

In their spare time, the Waltzes enjoy watching television, playing board games, and being outside in nature. Donald also serves as a hospice chaplain for Two Rivers Hospice. Donald enjoys collecting vinyl, using his telescope, reading, gardening, and being a husband and father.
BILLY CAUDLE
Music Director & Organist
Billy really likes to make good music. In his role at First Baptist Church, making good music helps enhance the worship experience for everyone.

Outside of church, Billy always tries to improve things little bit. He gets up every morning with a goal of making our community just a little bit nicer and more interesting and entertaining for the folks that live here now. Through his various roles at churches, as an Elizabeth City City Councilor, and through interactions with others, he is able to move that idea forward each and every day.
​
Billy enjoys the water, so boating and swimming are his "go-to" hobbies, as well as making music.
LAURINDA FERRELL
Administrative Assistant & Children's Coordinator
Laurinda loves planning and doing events and programming for children and youth, especially coming up with crafts for them to do. She loves Vacation Bible School and is leading our Children's Ministry in a VBS-like atmosphere every Sunday morning! Laurinda didn't grow up in church, so she's catching up on her time missed in Children's Church by working with them!

Laurinda has been a member of First Baptist Church since 2002. She has been married to Roger for 40 years. They have a son, John (married to Brandy), and a granddaughter, Lacey. Laurinda and Brandy love crafting together and you'll probably see them at their booth at a few craft shows around the area. They also love to go camping in their travel trailer!
VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP
The Deacons of First Baptist Church
Volunteers play a vital role in the ministry and leadership of First Baptist Church. Part of those volunteers are the deacons. At First Baptist Church, deacons provide administrative leadership, as well as assist the pastor in pastoral ministry to the members and visitors of FBC.

The current deacons for First Baptist Church are: Bill Whiteman, Joe Winslow, Don Cherry, Gwen Bell, Adam Harris, Mike Dixon, Susane Krueger, and Frank White Jr.
